How to Download Files with my iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad?

It sounds like a trivial task that we don’t even think about how to download files from the Internet on our work and home computers.  On many mobile devices however, the browser is locked down to not allow the downloading of files.  What do we mean by “locked down”?  The links to files that you can download on your regular computer’s browser are simply “greyed out” and not clickable.   You can see them but they don’t work.  Frustrating to say the least.

As we mentioned, many mobile phones and devices come with file download not working, here we are gong to show an easy way to download files until your heart’s content on Apple iOS devices; iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

Lets get started.

Step 1.
Download and install the GoAruna Files file manager for iPhone / iPod Touch or iPad file manager.   If you don’t already have an account, you can get a free one inside the app after you launch it for the first time.  The free account doesn’t expire and is not a trial.

Step 2.
Open the GoAruna Files app on your iOS device.  Login and then goto the Transfers section of the app.  Here you will see two options:
A.)  URL Download. This is for when you know the exact URL location of the file on the internet.  You just paste the link in the format “http://somewebsite.com/myfile.pdf” (replace with the actual file you want to download and without the quotes!).  Press go and the file download will immediately start and when completed, the file will be available on your iPad.

B.)  Browse to Download. This is a special browser that has file downloading enabled.  So just use it like a regular browser to browse and surf the Internet and when you come across a file you want to download, just click the link and presto!  The file will be downloaded to your iPhone.

Hope it helps and we wish you happy iPhone and iPad downloading ever after!
