Today Google launched the Android web app store. Previously, you could only find apps on your Android device through the Android Market App. Now, with the new web app store, you can browse apps from your web browser and install them with one click.
The install from a web browser is pretty cool and easy. Just click on install, sign in with you google account and it will magically be downloaded and installed on your phone. Google has spent some effort to make sure it is easy and effortless to install apps from the web.
While this is great news for the Android platform, finding apps isn’t that much easier or improved from the App version of the Android market on your Android device. You can search by category along the left side of the screen and then browse each category but there are so many apps it is not the most efficient process. You can also search with the search bar at the top of the screen but we found the results to be average at best.
In any case, the new Android app market on the web is a great step in the right direction and the one-click app installs are awesome! We look forward to see what additional improvements Google makes with the Android market, you can be sure they are working on them already.

Here come the Androids, the Android tablets that is. At CES 2011, there were a whopping 46 (yes forty six) Android tablets and e-readers announced by 27 manufacturers. We predicted over 30 Android tablets to be announced but we were on the low side. Even the 46 announced is likely on the low side as many manufactures will have several models and sizes to add to their tablet lineups in the coming year.
This is great news for innovation in touch computing and tablet format. It is likely that this first wave of Android tablets will be playing catch up with Apple’s iPad, but that will change over time. Soon, Google will release the official tablet version of the Android operating system and we will see another wave of devices and innovation.
2011 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the tablet and it will be interesting to see who the handful of winners are who will produce the best Android tablets to take on the almighty iPad.

We are on a language kick here at the moment at GoAruna. We have many dedicated customers that their first language is not English and we want to make sure that you can interact with GoAruna in your native language.

As many of you know, to date, many of our mobile apps have been multilingual for some time but our website has been English only. This is changing quickly.
We recently added Japanese capability to our website and now we are pleased to announce that Korean language is live and available for all of our Korean customers and friends.

Andy Rubin, the head of the Android team at Google, sent out a message on twitter recently that Google is activating more than 300,000 Android phones per day. Doing the math, that is 2.1 million a week, 9 million a month or 110 million per year.
Wow. Google is on a roll and is on their way to becoming the most popular smartphone in the world.

It has been a while since we posted an update on GoAruna Files for Android. Not because there has been nothing going on but because we have been busy delivering updates and improvements. Since the last blog update, we have delivered six update releases.
We are very happy with the progress on the GoAruna Android file manager. That said, there is always ways to improve and we intend to do just that. Android is quickly becoming one of the most popular smartphone platforms in the world now and we are continually investing in improving the app to provide you an even better experience.
We may not be posting every last detail about every release here but rest assured, more Android cloud file management innovation will be coming your way soon. We also love to hear your comments and suggestions so please share them so we can improve even more.

Today the CEO of Google, Eric Schmidt revealed that they are now activating 200,000 new android devices EVERY DAY. That is 6 million new Androids per month and 73 million new Androids per year. While impressive, we think there is still a lot of room for growth. Android is simply killing it. It is getting hard to keep track of every handset from every manufacturer on every mobile provider in every country. There is simply too many.
Another factor at work here is the commoditization of the “smartphone”. Now the cost is coming down very quickly so hundreds of millions of new customers can now afford a smart phone instead of the “feature phone” they had before.

The latest and greatest Android file manager is now live in the Android market. For this release we have improved the management of your uploads and downloads. Now there is a special transfers section that includes the upload and download manager. You can add multiple uploads and downloads to the queue and carry on with your other work (or play) on your Android phone.
