GoAruna Introduces Expanded Cloud File Storage Space, Improved Services and New Subscription Plans

July 28th, 2010
Larger online cloud storage space and the capability for bigger files has finally arrived.  We know many of you have been waiting and the wait is over.  You can not store up to 50 gigabytes of files and have files that are up to 2 GB in size.  (Larger accounts will be coming as well)

Over the last weeks we have been testing our subscription service accounts and payment systems.  Our premium service comes in the form of a subscription, this makes it easy to understand and predict costs for both individuals and businesses.  Currently, we are starting with three levels:
Lite – Free – 2 GB
Bronze – 20 GB Cloud Storage Space – $4.97 / month
Silver - 50 GB Cloud Storage Space - $9.97 / month

The levels offer differing levels of storage and you can choose according to your needs.  We have also invested in making sure that it is easy to move between different plans.  You can easily upgrade and downgrade as you wish, we don’t want to lock you into anything.

In addition, we are offering a 14 day free trial for all subscription plans.  You can try the service for free for 2 weeks and if you don’t like it you don’t pay anything.

We also offer you the opportunity to save some money and give a discount for those who want to pay yearly instead of monthly.  You can choose monthly or yearly at the time of upgrade or signup.

We currently accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express.  If you want to pay by PayPal, please contact support and we can set that up for you.

For existing users, you can upgrade to get more storage in the account section after you login to GoAruna.

For those of you that don’t have an account yet, you can sign up for our free account or get a free trial of one of the new subscription plans here on our Pricing page.

p.s. – don’t forget to get your iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry or other mobile phone set up with the GoAruna mobile file manager so you always have your files with you!

The Rise of the Cloud and Cloud Computing

June 23rd, 2010

GigaOM, the popular technology blog, has put together a great infographic which gathers some recent research and trends for cloud computing. You can see it below.

The trend is that we, as individuals and companies, are increasingly relying on and using services and products that are “in the cloud” or cloud based. One survey by Pew Research asked, “By the year 2020, will we live in the cloud rather than on the desktop (computer)?”

71% of respondents agreed that by 2020 we will mostly live in the cloud, rather than the desktop.

Another trend that is touched upon is the growth and fast pace of expansion of the digital universe. Basically, the trend is that we as individuals and businesses are creating new data at unprecedented rates. There are many reasons for this (which are different for both individuals and business obviously) but all this new data needs to be stored somewhere. The question is where? Who do you and your business trust to keep that data accessible and safe?

We are here to earn your trust and keep your data safe and sound. We have a lot more thoughts on this topic that we will leave for another future post.

In the meantime, here is the cloud computing trends infographic.

New GoAruna File Management App for Blackberry OS 5

May 26th, 2010

We want to make sure you have your files with you all the time,  on your Blackberry.  This means giving you a dedicated GoAruna Files app to do the job.

In the past we have offered a version of GoAruna for Blackberry OS 4.3 – 4.6 and another for 4.7.  These versions of GoAruna, while functional, have not been up to the standard that we expect and deliver in our other apps for iPhone, iPad and Android.  This is due to many reasons but mostly due to the limitations of the lower versions of the Blackberry OS.

While Blackberry OS 5.0 itself is not quite up to the functionality and usability of iPhone OS or Android OS, it is getting better.  With the improvement to the OS by RIM, we are able to in turn offer a better experience and more functionality for GoAruna Files for Blackberry.

The new GoAruna Files for Blackberry 5.0 app has been approved and is now available for download from Blackberry App World.

What does GoAruna Files for Blackberry do? Here are a couple of the main uses:
– Manage and organize your Blackberry local files, documents and media
– Access, send, share and download your files stored in your GoAruna Online Storage account
– View and play all your video and music media
– Browse and view your photos and images
– Upload any of your existing files on your Blackberry to you GoAruna Online storage for safe keeping and to use on other devices and computers

So, if you have a Blackberry with OS 5 or higher, we suggest that you use this new version made especially for v5.0.  You can go and grab it from Blackberry App World!

You can find the detailed Blackberry device requirements, features and additional info on our Blackberry mobile app page.

For those of you that still have an older Blackberry OS, we will soon be releasing the following updated versions of GoAruna for Blackberry:

  • - GoAruna Files for Blackberry OS 4.5 – 4.6
  • - GoAruna Files for Blackberry OS 4.7

We are working on these older versions now so watch for news here on our blog in the next couple of weeks.

And here are the links you need for the new version available now.
