We have finally added an icon viewing mode to GoAruna files in addition to the list mode.  Now you can view icons of all your files with thumbnail previews of your images for all files that have been downloaded to your Android phone.  This makes it easier to see exactly which pictures you are working with and saves time from having to view the full version just to find out what picture it is.

You can set the default viewing mode in the Menu > Settings dialogue.

We are also in the process of reviewing the user interface for GoAruna Files for Android to improve and enhance usability.  Here are a few changes that we made and recently released.

3. Add a choice to goto either Internet files or local android files after login

We recently released a new version of our Windows desktop file manager app and several users were reporting installation problems.

Today we have released a new version 0.1.2 which should resolve these installation issues.

This release is recommended to all users of our GoAruna for Windows desktop app.

If anyone is still having problems installing this version, please let us know in our desktop app feedback forum.

We are a bit late posting this as the release has been in the Android market for over a week now.  Better late than never!

This release for GoAruna Files Android has the following changes:

GoAruna Files Android – v 0.6.0
1. Automatically restore certain states and restart GoAruna after an app crash due to low memory

2. Add French language support

3. Bug fix. After deleting multiple online files, the deleted files were not removed from the listing

4. Improved logic for communicating with server for uploads

5. Improvements to English language localization

6. Change text on the “send SMS” dialog

If you have not upgraded, it is recommended that all Android users upgrade to GoAruna Files v0.6.0.

This release as you can see adds French language support.  So all of our French users can have their entire GoAruna files mobile interface in their native language.

Our iPhone app is also available in French as well.

Our next translation for both Android and iPhone will be Spanish.  You can look for that in the coming weeks.

Today we have a new release available for GoAruna Files for Android.

Several users on Android OS < 1.6  have been reporting a force close of the GoAruna Files app since the last release (0.5.28.)

v0.5.29 should fix this issue if you are having it.

It is recommended that all users on Android OS versions < 1.6 upgrade to this newest version.  It is in the Android Market now and ready for download.

Those with Android >1.6 can update as well with no problem.

Today we have released a new version of GoAruna mobile files for Symbian based phones and mobile devices.

This release is based on the Sun Java platform which doesn’t allow us to integrate with the phone hardware and OS very well on many different handsets.  Nor does it allow to give the level of user experience that we would like.  This release is provided as a stop gap solution until Symbian 3 and 4.  We have plans to eventually totally re-write the Symbian GoAruna mobile file client from scratch to make use of the newer Qt platform which Symbian 3 and Symbain 4 will be based.

In the meantime, this version of the Symbian app will get you access, let you share and other basic features for managing your GoAruna files.

GoAruna Files for Symbian version 0.9.14 it is available for now.  Detailed installation instructions and more notes are included with the download.

To manage your Symbian files and GoAruna files, you will need a GoAruna account.  You can first get a free account and then when you install on your Symbian phone, you will be ready to go.

Free File Storage – My Files Tab

Yes, free storage that doesn’t expire (as long as you continue to use the service, you must log in every six months to keep your account active). Upload and store your files and and organize them within folders.

Sent Files History

Now you can see the history of the files you have sent to people through Aruna Send. Easily re-send files that were sent before (assuming they are within their expiry)

Extended Aruna Send file expiry

Logged in users sent files now have a 14 day expiry period (instead of 7 days for the free version). In addition there is a new “Copy to Storage” feature where you can copy any of your sent files over to your file storage area. This means you can keep those files and re-send them as many times as you wish.

Increased Aruna Send File sizes – Now send files up to 150 MB

Sharing

You can also easily share files that are in your online storage with the provided links to easily post on the web, forums etc.

Open ID

To use the new features of Aruna Send you must have an Open ID. Open ID will let you log into many websites with one ID.

More robust back end and storage infrastructure – We will write more about this later
